JUNIOR WAVES SWIM TEAM

The Waves Developmental Team (Junior Waves) is for swimmers who are fairly new to the field of competitive swimming.

 Junior Waves Information

Many swimmers who have never been on a competitive swim team start at the developmental level. At this level, swimmers will focus on improving the four competitive strokes as well as learning the correct starts and turns used in a swim meet. The Developmental Team is a stepping-stone to the Waves Swim Team for many swimmers.

Becoming a Junior Wave

The majority of the swimmers are between ages 6 and 9 and the team is comprised of approximately 50 swimmers. Our coaches will determine if your swimmer belongs on the team, Junior Waves or if they could benefit from another year of lessons.

Interested swimmers must come to tryouts prior to signing up.

Swimmers must come to tryouts and swim with the other interested participants in their age group. They will be asked to swim freestyle and the stroke of their choice for the coaches to evaluate. New swimmer evaluation information will be posted soon.

What to expect

Swimmers will have the opportunity to participate in a small

group practice with one of our swim coaches. The swimmers will learn strokes, turns and starts during the course of the season.

Junior Waves participants DO NOT compete in Waves meets. They attend their practice, take part in the pizza party and picture night and will have an inter-squad meet on the last day of the session.

What to Bring

Junior Waves participants do not need to purchase our Waves suit. However they should come with a competition suit, googles and a cap.
